Our purpose

Quiet Mind Sleep exists to give UK readers clear, practical, honest information about sleep, with a focus on the busy mind that keeps so many people awake. Our success is measured by whether a guide actually helps the person who searched for it.

Sources and evidence

  • We rely on reputable sources: the NHS, NICE guidance, national sleep and mental health organisations, and peer-reviewed research.
  • We distinguish between well-established advice (a regular wake time; a cool, dark, quiet bedroom; cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia as the recommended first-line treatment for persistent insomnia) and ideas that are promising but not yet well proven (for example specific noise colours, weighted blankets, or particular breathing patterns). We say which is which.
  • We do not invent statistics, quote experts we have not consulted, or fabricate personal stories or testimonials.
  • Sources are listed at the end of each guide.

Health information

Sleep is a health topic. Our guides are general information, not medical advice. We do not diagnose, we do not claim to treat any condition, we never advise readers to stop or change medication, and we signpost readers to a GP or pharmacist where a problem may need professional attention. See our health information disclaimer.

Writing standards

  • British English, plain language, short paragraphs and clear headings.
  • The reader's question is answered early, then explained in depth.
  • Articles are as long as the subject needs and no longer.
  • Internal links are added where they genuinely help the reader continue, never to manipulate search rankings.
  • No exaggerated promises. Words such as "cure" and "guaranteed" do not appear in our guidance.

Products and independence

Product mentions must serve the reader at that point in the article. We describe product types and what to look for, using factual manufacturer-style language. We do not display prices, star ratings or reviews that could go out of date or mislead, and we do not claim to have tested a product unless we have and say so. Affiliate relationships never influence editorial decisions; see our affiliate disclosure.

Review and updates

Each guide shows its publication date and, where relevant, its last update. We review guides when advice changes, when readers tell us something is wrong, and on a rolling schedule. Material changes are noted in the guide.

Corrections

We correct errors promptly and transparently. Our corrections policy explains how to report one.

Use of technology

We use software tools, including AI-assisted drafting and editing tools, to help research, draft and check content. Every guide is reviewed against this policy before publication, and responsibility for what is published rests with Quiet Mind Sleep.
